The IT Crowd

UKs Channel 4 has this new IT-based Sitcom „The IT Crowd”. Hillarious! Two IT geeks in the basement of a large, abusive corporation get a new boss, a woman who lied about her IT experience on her resume. If you work in IT, you HAVE to watch it.

Direct downloads and torrents available at AtariBoys blog. Channel 4 on its homepage only offers DRM-crippled videos for the UK.

Hard Drive Dying Dance Track Winner

Create a song that a includes one or more of the noises from the sound files at the bottom of the Hitachi Global Storage defective hard drive page. The song should be no more than 3 minutes long, and must be in MP3 format.

Splunk uses powerful algorithms to automatically organize any type of IT data into events. It then classifies these events and discovers relationships between events of different kinds. Events are indexed by time, terms and relationships.
There is a free Splunk Server for up to 500 MB of data, a commercial version, a knowledge base and plug-in infrastrukture. They also offer a Demo-Videos and a tour.
