Wiedereinmal habe ich ein neues Toshiba Notebook bekommen. Mangels Zeit wurde auch diesesmal nur knx-install von einer Knoppix 3.2 CD gestartet. Nach 15 Minuten war KDE mit 2.4.20-XFS komplett eingerichtet. Die Hardware wurde wiedermal komplett erkannt, bis auf den Centrino Wlan Chipsatz für welchen es derzeit keinen richtigen Linuxtreiber gibt. Alternativ kann man http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/ probieren.
Die A30 Serie ist wirklich gut verarbeitet, Toshiba typisches Design. Der Centrino Prozessor läuft mit 1,4Ghz, 512Mb Ram und 40Gb Harddisk sollten auch für zügiges Arbeiten mehr als ausreichend sein. Des weiteren gibt es noch eine Onboard Intel VE 10/100 Netzwerkkarte, DVD/CDRW Kombielaufwerk, Usb 2.0, 2x Pcmcia, IR und Fireware. Eine Nvidia Gforce 440 Mobile steuert das 15" Tft Display an, welches leider nur magere 1024x768 Bildpunkte hat. Je nach belieben kann zur Zeigersteuerung das Touchpad, der "Nippel" oder eine externe Maus verwendet werden.
