Even now, the Oompa Loompas are hard at work out in Redmond, simultaneously regression-testing and translating Microsoft's WMF patch into Swahili and Urdu. And, somehow, as if by magic, all of this work will wind down at precisely the right moment so that the WMF patch doesn't have to be released "out of cycle." How convenient! Especially if you're wanting to avoid all of that nasty "Microsoft Releases Emergency Patch" publicity. Oxy-morons

Lange genug sind mir diese SSH Brute Force Attacken in meinen Logs auf den Zeiger gegangen, jetzt hab ich endlich was dagegen unternommen.
Und nein, ich hab nicht das Logging abgedreht, sondern mit iptables und Perl Aktionen gesetzt.

Der ganze Spass begann ja, wie bei einem Planungsfascho wie mir üblich, schon einige Tage früher, was aber insofern nicht leicht war, da ich bis 25.12. mittags Bereitschaft hatte und erst dann mit einem Kollegen tauschte (der dann auch den 26. für mich übernahm).
So wurde das Packen doch eine etwas knappe Sache und ich stand, aufgeregt wie vor so einer Reise immer, bei strahlendem Sonnenschein am Salzburger Bahnhof, nervös immer und immer wieder meine interne Liste durchgehend, einer der vielen Ticks die meinen Alltag beherrschen (wie meine Reisegefährten noch schmerzlich festellen würden :) ).

Irgendwann kommt der Tag, an dem man sich von einem PC trennen muss/möchte. Bevor man den PC aber einer karitativen Einrichtung schenkt, sollte er von allen belastenden Daten befreit werden. Natürlich kann man nun ein teures kommerzielles Produkt kaufen, es gibt aber auch mit „Darik's Boot and Nuke (DBAN)“ eine sehr nette und praktische Lösung,die auf Debian GNU/Linux basiert.

Dass man keine Presseaussendungen im Word-Format verschicken oder Online stellen sollte, ist schon lange kein Geheimnis mehr. Manche Agenturen beharren trotzdem darauf und verraten damit Loginnamen bei Microsoft.
